Custom Dabu Printing
Job Work Factory
Sonesh Jaipur specializes in authentic Dabu (mud-resist) block printing for fashion labels, boutique designers, and bulk wholesalers. We bring your proprietary designs to life using 100% natural Indigo, Kashish, and Madder dyes.
The Authentic Mud-Resist Authority
The market is flooded with cheap, screen-printed imitations of Dabu. For premium fashion brands and boutiques, authenticity is everything. Sonesh Jaipur provides authentic, traditional Dabu Job Work directly from our Sanganer facility.
Dabu is a labor-intensive, ancient mud-resist printing technique. A special paste made of clay, lime, and tree gum is hand-stamped onto the fabric. Once dried in the harsh Rajasthan sun, the fabric is dipped into deep vats of natural dyes (like Indigo). The mud resists the dye, leaving the stamped patterns in the original fabric color, often with beautiful, characteristic fine cracks where the dye has seeped through.
Our B2B Printing Partners:
- Independent Designers: Looking to launch exclusive, eco-friendly natural dye collections.
- Premium Boutiques: Who want to print their own proprietary motifs rather than buying open-market catalogs.
- Export Wholesalers: Requiring bulk, uniform Dabu printing on high-quality grey cloth.

Versatility Across Fabrics
Dabu behaves differently on different materials. Our artisans have mastered the mud-resist process across Jaipur's most famous weaves.

Dabu on Soft Mulmul
Applying heavy mud to ultra-fine muslin (mulmul) requires extreme delicacy so the fabric doesn't tear, resulting in incredibly soft, breathable indigo sarees.

Dabu + Hand Embroidery
For premium boutique collections, we first execute the Dabu printing and then enhance the motifs with intricate hand-embroidery or Gota Patti work.

Dabu on Kota Doria
The sheer 'khat' weave of Kota Doria absorbs indigo beautifully. We manage the starching and tension carefully to ensure the fine grid is preserved during vat dyeing.
The Sonesh Dabu Workflow
We maintain a highly professional, transparent workflow for our B2B clients to ensure their proprietary designs are protected and executed perfectly.
Design Consultation & Block Carving
You provide your CADs or concepts. Our master carvers create custom teak wood blocks specifically engineered with deep grooves to handle thick Dabu mud paste.
The Mud-Resist Stamping
The fabric is washed to remove starch, then artisans stamp your pattern using the 'Dabu' paste (a sticky mix of black clay, wheat chaff, and guar gum). Sawdust is sprinkled on the wet mud to seal it, and it is left to bake in the hot sun.
Vat Dyeing (Indigo)
Once the mud is completely dry, the fabric is dipped into deep, cold vats of natural dye (most commonly Indigo). The mud resists the dye. The fabric is removed to oxidize (turning the dye blue), and the dipping process is repeated to achieve the desired depth of color.
Vigorous Washing & Finishing
The dyed fabric is vigorously washed to break away the dried mud, revealing the stunning, un-dyed pattern underneath (along with the beautiful, authentic fine dye-cracks). The fabric is then boiled to fix the colors, ironed, and dispatched.
